Summary
Aihe is a small team that consist designers, developers, AI researchers, project manager and other team members. I really wanted to involve in this project since it's a direct use of AI data, AI research. In other words Aihe, use AI marking system to mark the test results and generate unique feedback to students simultaneously.
Problem
"A university/college instructor who has to mark about 1200 to 36,000 responses. We want to ease the pain of assessing and possibly make the task of assessing responses enjoyable as a step towards attracting instructors to our platform and building a platform/marketplace that provides individualized education to students"
Design Goals
Addressing usability risks via design prototype iterations and usability tests on the aiMarks towards getting an average of 7 on how easy or difficult is the product to use? (1 - 7)
To inform the “Design Goals” are met I have done several User Tests
with possible users across the world.
Results
Numbers show that designs are easy to use but there are few points
that needs to be worked on. Some of the users confused with the
marking system, and also with the navigation within the product.
After quick iterations, the new prototypes have been made to be tested on new users.
What did I do?
I have started to building MVP page design from ground up by using User Stories and User Personas. I had to create a wireframe and from there I had to create prototypes to be tested out on the users.
I have worked closely with project manager and developers to be ensure my designs follow the requirements that we are looking for.
After first iterations done I have quickly conducted various user tests on the users with online video calls.
We are still on the phase of iterate and test.
Even though I am a product designer in the team, last couple months I have been working closely with the developers to enhance my coding skills.
1-Empathize
Based on the User Personas, and the User Story I had to create a Affinity Chart and possible user actions list.
To be able to create the first wireframe I had to empathize the user needs based on the given user persona and the user stories.
As my personal research, I had a understanding that teachers do not want to spend extra hours outside of their work. Especially when they are not payed for the over hours.
2-Define
Problem 01:
Teachers having problem with marking the results. It takes too much
effort and time.
Solution 01:
Create AI-Based Marking platform that teachers can assess the results with minimum clicks.
03-Ideate
As a team we had several Ideation meetings. Crazy 8’s was one of the best ways to create the mental map for our ideation phase.
After the ideation phase I had started to design our first wireframes.
04-Prototype
Based on the wireframes, and couple of internal testing, prototypes are ready to be tested. Low-high to High-prototypes have been tested out to increase design KPI’s.
Since we are not in the market yet and other NDA reasons I cannot show other versions of prototypes.
05-Test
After the initial designs are completed I have done several User Testing on the users. We have discovered several issues with our approach to the designs. Some of the users were confused due to the system that we have created. We have agreed to add a tutorial part, and change the designs with quick iterations together with other designers. We have also connect our MVP page with the other responsible pages to do better testing.
While the testing phase still happening we had several Scrum meetings to understand the product market fit and to be sure that we can deal with the risk assumptions in a fastest ways possible.
At the moment team of designers, developers, and other team members are working hard to finish the MVP version of the product in time.
Currently I have been working to put all the designs, components to Plasmic to get the developing part starting.
Challenges
01- Increasing our KPI’s based on the User Tests
02- Launching the product within the time limit.
03- Having not enough resources to fasten the project.
My Solutions
With clear visual-story telling Users might be guided through small checkpoints inside the pages. Because there are not many similar products most of the users might get lost during the learning process and it might effect our numbers.
